Bottom Rails

Sometimes people choose to drill underneath a fence, especially if the bottom of an old chain link fence has been subjected to snow loads for several years, and it may become easier to do so over time. Adding bottom rails to your fence will help and reduce the likelihood of thieves drilling through the bottom.

Post fittings

Another great way to enhance the security of your chain link fence is to choose steel fittings. These fittings are stronger than cast aluminum, but that's not what makes them a higher security option. The reason high security fences like prison fences use steel fittings is that they can be spot welded into place after installation - making it harder for people to tamper with the fence.

Different hole sizes

One of the best ways to improve security when installing chain link fencing is to choose a smaller hole size. Razor wire

Razor coils are a very effective deterrent and barrier. Barbed wire can be installed on most fences, and the three to six strands of wire above the barbed wire fence provide a little extra protection and a reason not to climb the fence!

Reduced spacing

You may be concerned that people may cut through the fence and pass through the opening so that bicycles or even small vehicles can enter. The solution is that you might consider spacing the posts closer together. 7-8 inches between posts will make using this sneaky trick much more difficult!

Detection system

There are no completely impervious fences on the planet . They should slow down people trying to enter or exit and give you time to respond. Another way to make your chain link fence more secure is to install a fence detection system that works by detecting vibrations on the fence. These systems can be connected to an alarm system that goes off when the fence is tampered with.
